There is live music all week; around 7pm or 8pm depending on the night. Not sure how offen thery have poetry,
The best old fashioned coffee shop you can find in Berkley/Oakland/Emeryville. They are for real and they make that kind of coffee you can hardly find everywhere
Planned on stopping just for tea but the music was so great and food smelled so good we decided to stay for dinner. Food was phenomanal. Live jazz band was great! Good beer, tea and dessert for incredibly reasonable prices. Staff was exceptionally friendly and place was very clean. Love this place and will definately be back!
Great coffee! Nice corner spot with plenty of windows and great staff. The Africano is my favorite.
Delicious butter biscuits!
Have them make you a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin with egg, ham, mozzarella and pesto. It is the bee's knees. I had mine with a beer which is one of the reasons why I love this place so much.
This cafe is unpredictable depending on when you come. Sometimes it can be good and other time bad. Coffee is always consistent, but the small bites are a hit or miss. Best to see it replenish and go grab it before sold out.
Low key spot to have a coffee and relax.
A cafe that you want to visit often and become a regular customer. The coffee is flavorful and robust. The pastries are scrumptious with flavors that tantalize and satisfy the taste buds.
Stoped at the light Adjacent to the cafe I can't drink caffeineOr tea. Stents in my heart Sorry I can't go there medical reasons
Best people, coffee and food! I could live here! Don’t bother coming if you’re looking for Starbucks and truckstop coffee!
A simple breakfast and coffee place. A lot of charm and ample seating. Delicious baked goods. Great coffee. Service was a tad slow but otherwise helpful and friendly. Parking can be a task at times, but hey, it's Berkeley .
Ambiance friendly diverse range of customers, great coffee, people, places to sit
Funky coffe place. Uncomfortable furniture...dingy...needs a good cleaning... everything is old... Old and not quaint. I will say: excellent coffee, very polite staff, and great service. So if you like the ambiance :-)
Good coffee, nice people and plenty of seating. Definitely recommend!
They... alow us to take our pitbull on the back garden area, enjoyable, romanticly hippy lunch outside.
Great coffee. Wonderful service.
Simple menu which I love. Straightforward and tasty as heck. Good music and good volume to work.
What a lovely discovery.
Friendly place to be served great coffee and have privacy too
Great, classic coffeeshop with a surprisingly excellent pastries and hot food menu.
Espresso was good. Cappuccino was good. We ate the cannoli and the carrot cake and it was yum. Staff was friendly.
Great Cafe with wonderful food and amazing staff. Lots of indoor seating but few outlets. They have musical events and it attracts an older college crowd. Great spot for a long stay working or studying. My favorite Cafe around these parts.
My bro's favorite neighborhood cafe. Good food. Great atmosphere. Nice peeps.
No longer called Trieste due to divisions of Gianni's inheritance, but largely the same format for now. Name-change was a definite claim on East Bay identity, both the Key Route streetcar system (represented in the logo of the cafe) and the history of Italian-American farmers in the Berkeley/Oakland area. The Italian for "Key" is "Chiave."
We happened upon this cafe after dinner in Berkeley. It is a really cool spot. There was live music that night which was neat to hear. The coffee was good and the cheesecake was incredible.
If my day starts with a latte from here..ik its gonna be a good day
Such a unique coffee shop and study spot. The entire place is decorated like an old elementary school classroom and has the perfect study vibes. I ordered an oatmilk hojicha latte and it was delicious. Definitely one of the most delicious and unique lattes I have ever had. If you are in the area, I'd recommend stopping by. It is pricier but worth every penny.
This used to be Caffe Trieste. My experience today was very bad. I noticed the espresso was running about four times faster than it should. I pointed this out to the barista. Who replied, well it's coffee and shrugged his shoulders. If you want good coffee stay away.
Yes sure, the real action is in North Beach. Lucky to have this spot in the neighborhood though. Not just saying that because of the Diana's pastry or the good folks on both sides of the counter. This is the best 'first-wave' cafe. Period.
Good cafe, love the ice cream there but idk if its still there
Strong dark coffee in a real cup, tasty self serve pastries or hot specials. This cafe is my go to to read a book while my car is being worked on a couple blocks down. Always pleasant, always good.
Fairly good mushroom panino.Caprese salad was OK, needed more mozzarella.Live music was a bit loud, making it hard to have a conversation at the table.
I came here one afternoon after class to study. I ordered a chai latte and a slice of cheese cake. The cake was delicious! Not too heavy and the crust had just the right crunch. The chai was also very tasty.
The staff was friendly while my daughter played I ordered and the food was good.
Great cafe and food. Some of the staff are rude. Creepy kindof of wierd but some of then are awesome. Just beware of the little guy;)
Iced latte was alright but warm. gave me wrong receipt and the right receipt has added tip amount...
Haven't been here for dinner, but the breakfast was bad. Latte was burned badly. The bagel was so hard and tough it hurt my jaw to chew. Biscuit and Egg sandwich was great though. No complaints there. Was quite expensive for what it was.
Amazing pastries, good coffee, nice live music
Although my California bagel took a few minutes longer than expected, it was worth the wait! Caffe Mocha was exceptionally delicious, not sure what chocolate they use but it was very different in a good way! Nice someone was open New Years Eve day!
Decent coffee, amazing pasties, fun live bands and a chill wait staff. Recommend Caffe Trieste if you want to get work done
Absolutely enjoyed the Cheesecakes (Carmel Fudge/New York Style), Boston Cream Pie and last but not least .. Tarimasu, to die for. My Chicken Avocado was very nice as well.
Neighborhood coffee shop/The Best.
New name for Cafe Trieste...same wonderful staff and delicious eats!
Solid coffee and a chill setting. Good spot to either meet up with a friend or get some work done.
This and Quince are my go-tos when I'm in the neighborhood. I don't know of anything really stellar on the menu, but it's all good, the service is good, and it's comfortable.
Great coffee but the pastrys are unbelievably good. Tiramisu to lemon blueberry scones. didn't have time for a full breakfast but what I could see guaranteed a return visit.
Food and coffee was good but it was hard to enjoy it in that atmosphere and the staff was not friendly at all. Wouldn’t come back
Great place to get a coffee. Pastries could be better but the gentle crew and nice customers make it up! There is live music too! You just have to check out their calendar.
Great coffee. Still as good as cafe Trieste. Good sandwiches as well.
Small coffee shop in a nice location. Live music available as well.
